What is Bellydance?
Bellydance is an ancient form of dance originating in the Middle East. It is a feminine and sensual art teaching isolation and control of your muscles while you effortlessly dance and float around the room. It is also great fun as exercise.

What happens in a class?
In Bellyluscious classes you will be taught the technique as well as combinations of movements. This will then be made into short dance choreographies.

Every lesson begins with a warm up to prepare your body for the class and ends with a cool down to relax your mind and stretch out your muscles. Bree is a fun and encouraging teacher who will make you feel at ease with your own pace of learning. She breaks down the movements simply, with plenty of time to practice and memorize each move.

What should I wear?
You do not need any special clothes; just wear something loose or wear leggings, and bring a scarf to tie around your hips. Long flowing skirts accompanied by a scarf that is embellished with coins are traditional dance wear. You do not need to expose your midriff if you don’t feel like it. We usually dance barefoot but soft soled shoes such as ballet shoes are perfect. Trainers and other shoes with stiff soles are not suitable, nor are socks.

How old do I need to be?
There is no age requirement and mature ladies are most welcome.

Do I need to be a certain size to learn bellydance?
Absolutely not. Anyone of any size and shape can learn to bellydance. Every woman looks equally beautiful in motion!

Are the classes mixed levels?
Some classes are taught at slightly mixed levels but most of the classes are split into 2 or 3 levels, foundation, intermediate and advanced.

Can men learn to bellydance?
Yes, but you need to decide whether you want to learn the female or the male form of the dance (which is not taught locally). A customized lesson is may be the best option.
